Students are reminded to continue reading in A Tale of Two Cities, chapters 1-6 due for quiz on Wednesday.
In first hour, we finished our close reading for chapter one together and discussed symbolism and historical context for the novel A Tale of Two Cities.
In second and third hour, Ms. Skinner finished her presentation on "The Lady of Shallott" and final responses were written in response to the questions below:
Choose two of the four, write one paragraph on each.
1. Does the ending bother you? Do you think Tennyson was being realistic, or overly-dramatic?
2. Was the Lady of Shalott wise to desert her loom? Was it necessary/ inevitable?
3. Lancelot represents the outside world. He’s the only outside commentary we get. What do you think of Lancelot’s remarks at the end? Did he understand her or not?
4. Tennyson walked a tightrope: where in your life do you see this same tension between the inside world and the outside world?
Send these two paragraphs to Ms. Skinner before the end of the class period.
