Directions for December 5, 2011
Dear 12-2 British literature students,
Welcome to class! I hope you enjoyed your weekend and got a lot of reading completed. In my absence today, you will have a full class period for reading in A Tale of Two Cities! I hope this is time that you will find useful. To ensure that this time is as concentrated and productive as possible, you may read only from the hard copies of the novel; today will be an iPad free reading day. There are copies of the book at the front of the room to borrow for this hour only; if you have your own hard copy, you may, of course, read that. You should use the entire class period for reading; if you have finished chapters 1-6, you should continue on in the book. Additionally, there should be no talking, so everyone can concentrate fully on their reading. Thank you for your full cooperation in this matter.
For homework, please read through the word document I will send you via email later today, which includes an in-depth interpretation of chapter one. Questions in italics should be answered by you; all other sections should be read carefully and studied for your quiz on Wednesday. (First hour, you already have these notes from class discussion last week.)
For tomorrow, provided you have read to the end of chapter five, there will be an extra credit paragraph writing that you can complete.
Have a good day and please be the polite, incredible students I have told the sub you are everyday for me.
See you tomorrow!
Mrs. Mielke
p.s. Second and third hours are reminded to email their paragraph responses to Ms. Skinner, if you have not already done so. rebekah.skinner@hope.edu
