Satire

WHAT IS SATIRE?   Read this informative article and take notes on what satire is.

Then, read your assigned article and take notes on the commentary being made about satire.  Prepare to explain to others what you have read and learned.
  1. "What's the Point of Satire?" by Will Self (2015)
  2. "The Death of Satire" by Ted Gioia (2015)
  3. "Satire May Be Uncomfortable, but Humor Makes Us Human" by Scott Simon (NPR, 2015)
  4.  "Really, Don't Believe Everything You Read" by Asante (NPR, 2011)
Next, gather with others to discuss the varying viewpoints you read about with satire.

Finally, independently read and takes notes on this article about Jonathan Swift’s inspirations and satirical intentions with Gulliver’s Travels.  Take notes that summarize the main points of the article and then record any questions or reactions you had to this reading.
