Samuel Pepys & Using Letters and Diaries as Historical Docs

Begin by reading about how letters and diaries can be used as historical resources.
Group A should read this article
Group B should read this article

Groups A & B:  Read the background info. on Samuel Pepys on p. 542.
Then, read your assigned section of his diary.
Group A: Read pp. 544-549, up to Sept. 2, 1666
Group B:  Read pp. 549 (starting at Sept. 2, 1666 entry) through p. 554

Next, pair up with someone who read the other half of the diary, and complete these questions in response.

Finally, respond to Samuel Pepys (read more about Pepys here) and his form of journalistic writing, or respond to what you learned that was interesting based on your research or discussions about him and what he wrote about.
