Today we read poems by Robert Herrick and Andrew Marvell. We discussed and compared these poems, and were assigned to write a modernized poetic version of at least two stanzas for homework.
As we read the poems, we took notes on poetic techniques (ex. imagery, alliteration, rhyme scheme, etc.) and how the speaker plays a role in our interpretation of the poem. Then, we examined the poem stanza-by-stanza and developed support for our conclusions about theme at the end.
