Independent Reading Book Journal #2

Welcome to class!  In my absence today, you should complete the following (choose A or B) in response to your outside reading book.  When done, you can either email me your response or submit it to the inbox.
You may then have remainder of the class period for working on your November Creative Expression, *completing your response to the movie A Knight's Tale (if not already submitted), or reading in your book.  We will continue with Renaissance poetry tomorrow.

   A.  Code of honor and chivalry:  How does your main character treat others within the story?  What are the principles that are most important to him/her?  How do you see these values leading his/her choices and driving his/her relationships with others?  Explain fully with rich evidential support from the book.

    B.  Exemplar tale:  What do you believe are the author's motives for telling this story?  What lessons does he/she hope for the audience to learn from this book?  How has the author gone about emphasizing and developing this moral throughout the book?  Are the characters and plot he/she has created effective in bringing across this theme?   Explain fully with rich evidential support from the book.
