Welcome to class senior scholars! Today you will be learning about the Romantic era and comparing it to previous eras studied this year.
Please go to the textbook (you may use the online textbook for most of the questions; bring your textbook to class tomorrow for any sections you were not able to answer).
Please read the Introduction for the Romantic period and answer the questions below.
1. List three qualities/descriptions of the romantic era.
2. How was the romantic period a departure from the era of reason before this?
3. What were some of the aspects of society and the world that Romantic writers responded to?
4. Name and describe the type of poetry that was written during the Romantic era. How was this poetry different from poetry of the past?
5. Explain one of these two terms and how it appealed to the reading audience of the romantic period: Gothic or Byronic Hero.
Extra Credit: Compare the romantic era to the Victorian era. Explain comparisons with specific examples.
If possible, complete this by the end of the class period. Otherwise, this assignment is due at the start of Tuesday's class period.
When you are done, you may begin reading about the Victorian era, or you may work quietly on other homework.
See you tomorrow!
