Directions for today

Dear Students,
In response to the movie, you will be writing to the the following prompt:

Choose a central theme for Taming of the Shrew. Compare how this theme is developed in the multiple interpretations you have recently experienced, including: No Fear Shakespeare play version, the film 10 Things I Hate About You, and Kiss Me, Kate (only if you attended or were involved in the performance).
Explain how Shakespeare developed the theme throughout his play, and what he is looking to teach his audience about this theme. Then, examine and compare how this theme is treated in the movie and/or play, and what differences or similarities you found in this interpretation vs. Shakespeare's.
Finally, conclude with how this theme is of relevance and universal importance today, and your personal thoughts on the theme.

Please begin working on the prewriting for this paper quietly now. The paper must be at least two pages and should be handwritten on paper. It is due by Wednesday, 3/14.

Thank you in advance for following these directions and cooperating with the substitute today.
